THREE of the islands
top swimming warriors will represent Guam at the 2007 Junior Pan Pacific
Swimming Championships in the Hawaiian Islands later this week.
The Guam Swimming Federation announced yesterday that there are three
qualified individuals who had worked hard all season to earn the right
to represent the island in the meet in the Hawaiian island of Maui. The
trio were scheduled to leave this morning.
According to GSF Secretary Sandra Low, Swimmers representing Guam
will be Chris Duenas, C.J. Aguon, and Carlos Shimizu. They leave Guam
Tuesday morning.
Low explained in an emailed release that the 2007 Junior Pan Pacific Swimming
Championships will be held form January 11 to 15, 2007 in Maui, Hawaii.
She added, The Junior Pan Pacific Swimming Championships is the
premier junior swimming event in the region. It is designed to showcase
the up and coming, future Olympian swimmers of each country. According
to event organizer, USA Swimming, approximately 200 athletes from 11 countries
are expected to swim in the meet, which will include both pool swimming
events and the 10K open water swim.
The GSF noted that Aguon, Duenas and Shimizu have worked hard to
earn this opportunity to represent our island and we are proud of their
accomplishments.
Also accompanying them will be Head Coach Don San Agustin and Coach Pepe
Laflamme. Duenas swims with the Manhoben Swim Club, and Aguon and Shimizu
swim with the Tarakito Swim Club.
