Pavilion to be constructed in Bird Island area

By Emmanuel T. Erediano
Variety News Staff

DEPARTMENT of Lands and Natural Resources Secretary Ignacio Dela Cruz yesterday disclosed that they plan to construct a pavilion near the Bird Island sanctuary.
The $26,000 pavilion will be federally funded, he said.
The construction will start this year, and the parks and recreation division is now conducting a survey in the area to determine where the pavilion will be erected, Dela Cruz said.
He added that they will have to coordinate with the Historical Preservation Office to make sure that the project won’t destroy any important artifacts in the area.
Dela Cruz said DLNR is currently fixing the portion of the roadway at Paupau Beach that was eroded during the heavy rains last year.
He said they are completing the reconstruction of the road.
