A man who beat up and robbed another man last month in San Antonio was charged with robbery, assault and battery and theft by the Attorney General’s Office on Monday.
Acting Chief Prosecutor Kevin Lynch said that on or about Dec. 20, 2006, Benigno “Ben” Muna Sablan, 24, “did unlawfully take the property of Deng Hong Lee by the use or threatened use of immediate force or violence.”
Sablan, moreover, “unlawfully beat the victim and took his wallet containing $460 and important documents.”
Sablan was arrested on Dec. 30 and has posted bail.
Police stated that Sablan beat up and robbed the victim who droped off a female friend at a barracks in San Antonio.
Sablan got into the passenger seat of the victim’s vehicle right after the female friend got out of the car, the police affidavit stated.
It added that Sablan demanded the victim drive to a beach area and when Deng Hong Lee refused, he was punched by the defendant and robbed of his wallet.
‘Ice’ possession
In other news, the AGO on Monday charged Joseph Acosta Crisostimo with illegal possession of a controlled substance.
The information filed in court by the AGO stated that on or about Dec. 23, 2006, Crisostimo unlawfully possessed a controlled substance commonly known as “ice.”
Crisostimo, 33, was already in the custody of the Department of Corrections for another offense. He was arrested on Dec. 23, 2006 for assault, assault with dangerous weapon and reckless driving.
A police affidavit stated that Crisostimo assaulted a relative and his girlfriend and almost struck a minor with his vehicle on Nov. 19, 2006.
Crisostimo was summoned to appear in court on Jan. 16 to face the illegal possession of a controlled substance charge.
