THIS weekend's prayer breakfast
will be capped by an island jamboree for teams participating in the high
school boys' and girls' rugby league.
On Saturday, Sat. Jan. 13, "Inafa' Maolek" will lead prayer
breakfast for island youth sponsored the Governor's Council on Sports
and Physical Fitness explained Guam Rugby Technical Coach Pete Baggetta
earlier this week.
The focus of the event is "Youth Violence in Schools."
Baggetta added that the Father Duenas Friars, the Academy of Our Lady
of Guam, Norte Dame Royals and the George Washington Geckos requested
that a Jamboree be held to kick of the 2007 Independent Interscholastic
Athletic Association of Guam Rugby season.
Baggetta stated that the Jamboree will be sponsored by G4S Security Service,
one of
Guam's largest Security Companies. He added that the company will have
Gatorade and water provided for the teams but cautioned that teams
should also have dinks for its athletes. Baggetta also asked that all
be environmentally conscious and clean-up after themselves at the end
of the day. Baggetta said that tentative Jamboree start time is at 11
and expects to run through 5 p.m.
He reminded coaches that the morning's Prayer Breakfast is non-denominational
and cost just $4 for teens. "Highly encourage you to inform your
players and encourage them to attend.
A great way to start a great day," stated Baggetta in his email note.
The special prayer breakfast is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. through 9:30
a.m. at the Hilton Guam Resort. Registration costs $4 for those that register
and pay by this today Jan. 10 and $8 for adults. Otherwise the fee at
the door will be $5 for youth under 17 and $10 for adults.
A special group rate is available for $2 for youth age 17 and under and
