PCC Mesekiu is ready

By Nazario Rodriguez Jr.
Horizon news staff

With teamwork as its main weapon, Palau Community College Mesekiu is considered as one of the most prepared teams this coming season of the Palau major League.
The team had been practicing since October last year.
Although, there had been a sudden change in the use of wood bat to aluminum, team manager Todd Ngiramengior said this would not affect their chances so much.
The PML decided on Wednesday to use the aluminum because most of the teams could not afford to purchase a new wood bat.
Ngiramengior said that they have spent money in buying those wood bats but said he would support the majority decision.
He said they have enough preparation and they are ready for their first game against Ngaraard on Thursday.
With the addition of five of the main players of defending champion Koror, PCC is undoubtedly one of the teams to beat this season.
The team is composed of returnees Caleb Meltel (infielder/pitcher), Cleofas Iya (infielder/pitcher), Spis Gordon (infielder/catcher), Dekei Ngiramengior (infielder), Jason Mokeya (infielder/pitcher), Kaleb Dulei (pitcher), Olkeriil Yaoch (infielder/outfielder) and Everson Sadang (infielder/outfielder).
Addition from Koror are Melengis Uchel (catcher/pitcvher/infielder), Ty Saiske (pitcher/outfilder), Sureor Ngirailemesang (pitcher/outfielder), Bedor Kyota (outfielder) and Omsuul Yalap (infielder).
Others are rookie McNale Yuri, veteran Nena George, Chris Carlos and Ngirailals Polloi.
PCC’s playing coach is Norman Sato, who is the new PML president.
Ngirailemesang was the reigning regular season MVP while Saiske was the final series MVP.
“I’m pretty sure that it will be an interesting season for all of us,” Ngiramengior said.
“We just need to execute what we have practiced,” he said.
Teamowrk, he said, is the key to team sports and that his players have been playing together in many tournaments before.
Asked about what are still lacking, he said that they could only see it during the actual games.
He picked Airai as the most prepared since the team had been always a strong team ever since because of its vetera players as well as their own baseball field.
He also made mentioned of established teams like Ngerbeched and Kayangel, who had a remarkable accomplishment last season under Senator Mlib Tmetuchl.
PCC placed fifth in 2006 and should be a sure cinch for the Final Four this time.
