ONLY six teams will be playing
in the World Organized Rocball Community League, as action in the annual
tournament resumes next week at the Marianas High School Gym.
Making the cut are the defending champion Mwaliyas, Watch & Learn,
the Dublon Chiefs, the Black Magic, Kich Fairo and Da Lani Kynez.
The Mwaliyas, Watch & Learn and the Dublon Chiefs were tied for first
place with identical 3-0 records when the league took a holiday break.
Da Lani Kynez has a 2-1 record, while the Black Magic and Kich Fairo hold
similar 1-2 slates.
Four teams were eliminated after absorbing three losses. They were the
Ballers (0-3), the Bwi Bwiis (1-3), 670s Finest (0-3) and the Caropinos
(1-3).
The qualifying teams will be back to square one as they compete in the
round-robin playoffs.
The top four teams after the round-robin playoffs will advance to the
semifinals.
In the semis, the No. 1 team meets the No. 4 squad, while the No. 2 team
is paired with the No. 3 squad.
The semifinals will be a best-of-three affair with the winners moving
into the championship round, which will have a best-of-five format.
Rocball creator James Feger said that at the start of the tournaments
next phase on Jan. 17, teams will be allowed to change their lineups.
But each squad can only have nine players.
The games will start at 11:30 a.m.
Three matches are scheduled for next week with the Black Magic facing
Kich Fairo on Tuesday.
Next Wednesday, Da Lani Kynez meets the Mwaliyas, while Watch & Learn
squares off with the Dublon Chiefs next Thursday.
