By R. Vincent Tupaz
For Variety

MIXED Martial Arts will take a step up in presentation next month at Paseo stadium as organizers prepare to unleash the beast in some of the island’s top ranked homegrown fighters on Feb. 9.
Popular Guam MMA fighter Chris Brub told the Variety that he will present “Geran Haga” at the Paseo Stadium in February. Brub operating and promoting the fight via “Chris Brubs Hammer Productions” said the fight will will feature a Guam versus Canada showdown that will highlight the island’s finest MMA fighters in a stadium staged match. Fighters from Guam include Ryan Bigler, Alex Castro, Chris Mesa, Eric Santos, Ed Santos and Frank Manglona.
According to Brub, this will be the first outdoor fight staged at the Paseo Stadium.
“I wanted to give back to the island and wanted to showcase some of the Guam’s best fighters and pit them against fighters from countries from around the world instead the same Guam fighters against each other.”
Brub promised that the event at Paseo will be an exciting one and offered up the new scenery. “UOG fights are kind of played out, so I wanted to do his at a different venue. Paseo seemed like the perfect spot,” said the fighter turned promoter. He added that having an outdoor event will benefit the public because ticket prices will b e less than for fights that take place indoors.
“There’s going to be a lot of new action. We expect it to be a really enjoyable event,” stated Brub. “We’ll have a band play and probably fire dancers so it will be entertaining.”
Corporate tables will be available and offered to the first 100 companies at what Brub dubbed “reasonable prices,” but you must call 687-6867 for more info. Otherwise, regular price is $40 for VIP seats and $20 bucks for regular seats.
