Some 130 teachers
and staff from 15 Head Start centers have joined a three-day in-service
training at Palasia Hotel from January 3-5.
Belau Head Start Director Regina Mesebeluu said the workshop participants
include teachers, assistant teachers, cooks, bus drivers, managers, coordinators
and support staff.
With the theme Leading with a Vision: Managing Change and Creating
Quality, there are nine different types of workshops but each participant
will complete six of their own choice.
Mesebeluu explained that the workshop is about the several changes like
new regulations in the whole Head Start program.
Topics include Management systems, procurement education and health services,
family and community partnership, facility and transportation services
and leadership model.
Also discussed on the first day of session were disability service, Human
Relations and Information Systems and the ongoing monitoring.
Mesebeluu said that they have invited members of the Board and Policy
Council to update them about the program.
The presentation of special awards and recognition was scheduled as of
presstime last night.
