A MAN was arrested on Wednesday for assaulting his common-law wife, their infant son and her mother at their residence in Tinian.
Herman P. Aldan Jr. was brought to Superior Court yesterday morning before Associate Judge Kenneth Govendo who imposed a cash bail of $25,000.
Govendo set the bail modification hearing for today at 9 a.m. to allow Aldan to post 10 percent of the cash bail and $22,500 as a property bond as requested by his counsel, Joey P. San Nicolas.
Aldan was remanded to the custody of the Department of Corrections after the bail hearing.
Aldan was arrested on Wednesday at 12:12 noon for assault with a dangerous weapon, child abuse and disturbing the peace.
The affidavit of Barbara Arend of the Tinian Department of Public Safety’s Criminal Investigation Bureau, stated that Officers Ray Pangelinan and Anthony Borja were flagged down by the victims at the intersection by Zheng’s barracks in Marpo Valley.
The victims told the police officers that they were physically assaulted by Aldan and that they were on their way to the hospital for medical treatment.
Prior to the assault, the victim’s common-law husband had gone to her mother’s house to help with the cooking for the last day of their Three King’s novena at 2:30 a.m. on Sunday.
Aldan returned home at 4 p.m. to take his wife and their children to his mother-in-law’s house.
Aldan left his mother-in-law’s house later.
When the victim went home later accompanied by her mother, she saw Aldan sitting on the patio.
The mother-in-law asked Aldan where he had been and where he left the car.
Aldan told her that it was out of gas and that he left it by George Borja’s farm.
The victim and her mother went into the house and saw that the dining table was overturned and food was scattered on the floor.
The victims started cleaning the mess and told Aldan to pack his clothes and leave the house.
An argument ensued and Aldan hit his -mother-in-law, grabbing her by the throat.
The police affidavit stated that he pushed her against the wall, slammed her against the table, hit her with a chair, pushed her and threw her on the floor and stepped on her face with his right foot, twisting it back and forth.
Aldan then walked over to his wife who was standing by the playpen and holding her one-year-old son and punched her and kicked her in the chest, the affidavit stated.
Aldan also slapped her and punched her, it added.
The infant cried and was punched on the forehead by Aldan who told the one-year-old baby to shut up, according to the police affidavit.
Aldan also grabbed a machete and threatened to harm anybody who made a false move.
He only unlocked the door and let the two women and the infant leave the house when the mother-in-law complained of pain and told him that they needed to go to the hospital.
