THE Saipan Golfers Association will start the 2007 season with the SGA January Ace tournament on Sunday at the Marianas Country Club in Marpi.
The check-in time is 9:30 a.m., while tee-off is at 10 a.m.
Interested golfers are encouraged to call SGA officials to confirm their participation in the club’s first tournament of the year.
The winner of the January Ace tournament will get a slot in SGA’s Ace of the Aces event, which will take place in December.
Last month, former Superior Court presiding judge and 2005 January Ace winner Edward Manibusan topped the club’s year-end event.
Manibusan ruled the Ace of the Aces tournament after two rounds of play at the Kingfisher Golf Links and at the LaoLao Bay Golf Resort.
The 2-handicapper Manibusan shot a 37 and 36 on the front and back nines at the Kingfisher Golf Links in the opening round on Dec. 9 for a net 71.
Then Manibusan claimed the Ace of the Aces plum with a net 74 in the second round on Dec. 10 at the LaoLao Bay.
Meanwhile, SGA is still open for membership.
The membership fee is $50 for one year.
