By Jonathan V. Perez
Variety News Staff

THE Saipan Billiards Association will hold a captain’s meeting on Sunday at 7 p.m. to prepare for their fourth season at the USS Peleliu Club in Garapan.
The SBA said they will discuss the league format, the final number of participating teams and the schedule in the meeting.
The Winter/Spring season of the twice-a-year billiards league is tentatively set to open on Jan. 23. Budweiser will again sponsor the 2007 season.
Fourteen bars are set to join in the Winter/Spring season but Elloraza said they still need to confirm how many teams they will enter in the league.
Godfather’s, Porky’s, USSP, VFW, Wild Bill’s and Ysabel’s will be returning sponsors next season while the new bars include Jonny’s, Round 2, Bud’s Bar, LES Bar, Krystal Perfect Spot, Club Rage, Tan G’s and Vince Sports Bar.
The SBA held its season-ending banquet on Nov. 28 at USSP honoring the top performers in the league.
Leading the cast of winners was the Da Place Sure Shots, which also won the after-season tournament by beating the Wild Wild West in the finals.
The Hustlers ended up in second place during the regular season followed by the VFW Warriors in third.
USSP Fotten Palau and Wild Bill’s Wild Wild West came in fourth and fifth.
The Porky’s Nightbangers received the Sportsmanship award while Hustlers team captain Jerry Soriano was the hands-down choice as the league’s Most Valuable Player.
Soriano defeated the Sure Shots’ RJ Mascariñas, 15-12.
The hosting of the award banquet rotates among the 10 member bars of the twice-a-year billiard league.
