A 20-year-old man charged
with assaulting a woman has entered a guilty plea and was put on probation.
Brandon J. Taitano, through his counsel Assistant Public Defender Douglas
Hartig, entered a guilty plea to disturbing the peace as charged in count
II of the information filed by the Attorney Generals Office.
A change of plea hearing was held on Jan. 5, and Associate Judge David
A. Wiseman accepted the plea.
The judge sentenced Taitano to six months of imprisonment all suspended
except for four days with credit of four days for time already served.
Wiseman also placed the defendant on supervised probation for six months
and ordered Taitano to write a letter of apology to the victim.
He was also ordered to pay a fine of $50 and an assessment fee of $25.
Taitano will perform 100 hours of community work service at a minimum
rate of 10 hours per month.
A review hearing was set for June 8 at Tinian Superior Court.
Taitano was charged with assault and battery and disturbing the peace.
According to the AGO, on July 14, 2006, Taitano assaulted and disturbed
the peace of the victim on Tinian.
