Budget for water and sewer operations reduced

The budget for water and sewer operations had been reduced by $200,000, based on the recently signed annual national budget for fiscal year 2007.
The approved budget was $2,000,000 compared to the $2.2 million in the previous years.
RPPL No. 7-25 stated that within 60 days, the Minister of Resources and Development should submit a report to Congress regarding the costs and a plan to extend water services from Everfortune to Ngiruchelbad’s residence.
It said that the report should detail options about installing all water lines outside of the Compact Road.
It further stated that where installation on the Compact Road is necessary, the report should detail how all water line crossings should utilize culverts or bridges.
The total budget for the Ministry of Resources and Development is $32,958,000.
The following are the appropriated budget for other offices under the MRD: office of the Minister ($40,000), PALARIS Office ($145,000), Bureau of Agriculture ($430,000), Bureau of Marine Resources ($528,000), Bureau of Public Works ($1,674,000), CIP Office Operations ($160,000), pothole repair ($75,000), Bureau of Lands and Surveys ($938,000), OMIP and other grants match ($165,000), Water operations ($2,000,000), rural sanitation ($165,000), New Capitol complex electricity and maintenance ($250,000), Protected Area Network ($50,000).
A new item is for the national government to visit Hatohobei and Sonsorol States for a budget of $22,000.
