THE Republican Party is drafting
a two-year agenda for its candidates in this years midterm elections,
according to former Rep. Thomas B. Pangelinan, the GOPs new president.
He said a committee will be formed to look into the CNMIs critical
problems and propose a plan to address them.
Our primary focus is unity, and in achieving that desired unity,
we will design an achievable agenda for the midterm elections, he
told Variety yesterday.
CNMI voters will elect three senators and 18 members of the House of Representatives
in November.
Pangelinan said each chairman of the partys precinct clubs will
begin the selection of the GOPs candidates.
We will make sure that each precinct is well represented for this
election, he said.
Precinct club members will evaluate and select candidates in consultation
with the GOPs board of directors, Pangelinan said.
He said precinct club members will also be responsible for coordinating
activities in their areas.
Pangelinan said since late last year, the party has been conducting weekly
meetings in preparation for the midterm elections.
We will soon meet with the precinct chairmen and discuss with them
the partys mission and vision for this election, he said.
Besides Pangelinan, the GOPs new officers are former Rep. Bennet
Seman, first vice president; Kimo M. Rosario, first vice president; Roman
Tudela, second vice president; and former Rep. Karl T. Reyes,
