THE Guam Hospital Development
Forum will make a public presentation of its business plan for the establishment
of a 120-bed private hospital on Guam, forum chairman Peter Sgro said
yesterday.
Were very pleased with the results of the business plan, which
was done in a relatively short period of time, Sgro said.
Sgro and forum founders will unveil the 98-page business plan at a press
conference to be held Thursday afternoon at the Hyatt Regency Guam. The
document includes studies, market analysis and location and technical
assessments, among other things.
During this press conference, a Power Point presentation will provide
an overview of each section of the business plan, Sgro said. We
will also discuss the forums next step in working with others to
reach potential investors for the project.
The project cost is estimated at $32.5 million, which will be raised through
bonds, and possible loans and grants from the U.S. Department of Agricultures
Community Loans and Grants and the USDA Business and Industry Guaranteed
Loan Program.
The hospital project will be patterned after the Avera Queen of Peace
Hospital, which caters to the 15,000 people of Mitchell City in South
Dakota. The hospital is owned by the Presentation and Benedictine Sisters,
both orders of the Catholic Church. The hospital was initially built on
a property donated by the City of Mitchell in response to the communitys
need for better health care.
