Chain for Life rally on Sunday

By Trina A. San Agustin

IF YOU believe in the sanctity of life and/or disagree with the Roe vs. Wade Supreme Court 1973 decision, you are invited at the ITC Intersection on Sunday for the Archdiocese of Agana’s annual “Chain for Life” gathering at 4 p.m. to “prayerfully” protest the 34-year-old court decision.
Tita Tenorio, the coordinator for the Catholic Pro-Life Committee, said over 800 people supported last year’s “Chain for Life” event.
Tenorio said years ago, the event was an actual chain that stretched from Paseo to Tamuning. The group felt that they would have more of an impact if they assembled at the ITC intersection. The human chain will stretch from all directions at the ITC intersection.
“We figure that if we congregate at the four corners of the ITC intersection, it would send out a stronger message,” Tenorio told Variety.
The public is invited to join the group in the event. Tenorio said individuals of any religion is invited.
“Anybody who believes that life must be protected, promoted and respected can join us,” Tenorio added.
The assembly will start at 3:30 p.m. and is expected to end at 5 p.m.
“We appreciate and welcome anyone who believes in the sanctity of life. No registration is needed. Individuals do not specifically have to be a part of the Catholic religion,” she added.
