A TOURIST and two alien workers
lost money, jewelry and other important belongings when they were robbed
in three separate incidents.
The Department of Public Safety said the robberies happened on Thursday,
Sunday and Monday in Garapan and Sadog Tasi.
Acting DPS spokesman Sgt. Thomas Blas Jr. said the tourist, Akinobu Okuda,
42, was assaulted before he was robbed by three unidentified suspects.
Blas identified the other two victims as Qin Lian Jiang, 21, and Ka La
Ben, 28, both alien workers.
Blas said the tourist was walking back to the Hyatt Hotel when the three
suspects appeared from behind and assaulted him. During the assault, the
victims bag was pulled from his right arm before the suspects fled.
The tourist lost a Louis Vuitton brown bag containing jewelry worth $10,000.
The incident was reported to the police at 11:37 p.m. on Thursday.
Blas said another purse snatching incident was reported to the police
on Monday at 8:40 p.m. near the New Amiga Market in Sadog Tasi.
Qin Lian Jiang was walking when an unidentified man grabbed her purse
from behind and fled immediately.
The victim lost her black bag containing her passport, ID and cash amounting
to $20.
Police said Ka La Ben was walking north of Alaihai Street by the Joy Motel
in Garapan when an unidentified man sprayed her face with an unknown
liquid.
When the victim fell down, the suspect grabbed her purse containing her
entry permit, ATM cards, keys and cash amounting to $1,300.
DPS said anyone with information about these crimes should call the NMI
Crime Stoppers at 234-7272.
