A 31-year-old man was arrested
for assaulting his wife at their residence in Fina Sisu on Friday.
J-Jay Santos Reyes was brought to the Superior Court for a bail hearing
yesterday morning.
Associate Judge Ramona V. Manglona imposed a $1,000 cash bail for Reyess
temporary liberty.
Reyes was remanded to the custody of the Department of Corrections after
the hearing.
There will be a preliminary hearing on Jan. 25 at 9 a.m. while arraignment
was set for Jan. 29 at 9 a.m.
Reyes was booked for assault and battery and disturbing the peace after
his wife called police for assistance.
The police affidavit submitted in court stated that prior to the incident,
the victim was sitting on the couch in their apartment in Fina Sisu when
Reyes started pointing a finger at her.
The victim told Reyes to stop but he got mad and asked her why she was
yelling at him.
When Reyes pointed at her again, the victim slapped his hand.
Reyes then slapped the victims face twice.
The victim immediately got up and left the apartment but was followed
by Reyes who pulled her hair.
Then then took their baby and left their residence in a car.
Later that day, at 2:29 p.m., DPS received a report of a possible hanging
incident in Fina Sisu involving Reyes.
Reyes was arrested later taken to the psychiatric ward where he was placed
under observation.
The following day, he was released from the psychiatric ward and was transferred
to the custody of the Department of Corrections.
