A SUPERIOR Court marshal surrendered
to Agana precinct officers for his involvement in a riot on Saturday night.
Joaquin N. Charfauros, 24, of Mangilao, was arrested at 5 a.m. on Monday
after he physically attempted to stop police officers from arresting an
individual involved in a Saturday night riot, according to Agana precinct
commander Lt. Sonny Castro.
Charfauros was charged with assault, rioting, obstruction of government
operations, official misconduct, and hindering apprehension.
Through investigation, it was determined that Charfarous was a part
of the riot as well. On Saturday night, he tried to obstruct officers
from arresting one of the other suspects involved in the riot, Castro
said.
Castro added that Charfarous was also involved in the riot at the Agana
Beach House bar. Other individuals involved in the riot were also arrested;
their names and other information were not available as of press time.
Sources told Variety that the riot involved military personnel and local
residents.
Charfauros was on the other side of the court house bench yesterday for
a magistrate complaint. However, information on the hearing was not immediately
available. The only information available was that he was released from
holding.
