An exploratory talk between
Palau and the Philippine government on the expansion of aviation relationship
is scheduled on Jan. 17.
Philippine Ambassador to Palau Ramoncito Marino confirmed the arrival
of officials from the Philippine Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB) and the
Department of Transportation and Communication (DOTC).
CAB is the agency tasked with regulating, promoting, and developing the
economic aspect of civil aviation in the Philippines.
Marino said the talk will include a proposed opening of a Koror Cebu
route including a Philippine carrier servicing the Yap route via Palau.
Asian Spirit which currently flies three times to Koror from Davao is
mulling opening service in the Federated States of Micronesia.
Marino said the meeting will push through following the invitation from
State Minister Temmy Shmull in a letter to DOTC Secretary Leandro Mendoza.
Edward Pagunsa, CAB Undersecretary, CABExecutive Director Carmelo Arcilla
and representatives from DOTC and Asian Spirit compose the team of representing
Philippines in the talk.
Marino said the Philippine officials will be meeting with Shmull and Commerce
and Trade Minister Otoichi Besebes.
He added that the group will also be paying a courtesy visit to President
Remengesau.
Asian Spirit earlier announced opening a Koror-Cebu route, in addition
to a Koror Davao flights.
