High
surf, small craft advisory
EMO) Based on
information received from the National Weather Service on Guam, the Emergency
Management Office and Gov. Benigno R. Fitial are informing the general
public that moderate to fresh trade winds will persist across the Marianas
through Thursday night.
Winds and seas are expected to increase again Friday into the weekend
as high pressure builds north of the region.
A high surf and small craft advisory remains in effect.
Fresh to strong trade winds over the Western Pacific will maintain hazardous
surf along northeast and east facing reefs through early next week.
Hazardous surf at 8 to 10 feet will persist on northeast and east facing
exposures through Thursday. Surf is expected to remain hazardous for several
more days.
The governor is strongly advising the general public, especially beachgoers,
fishermen, tourists, swimmers, divers and surfers, to avoid venturing
near exposed reefs and beaches, especially along northeast and east racing
reefs, as wind and wave conditions support dangerous and life-threatening
rip currents.
