POPO Omar was a double short of making the cycle leading the Public School System to a 17-3 pummeling of the Governor’s Office in the continuation of action in the Inter-government Women’s Slow-pitch Softball League on Tuesday at the Miguel Baa “Tan Ge” Pangelinan Ballfield.
Omar went 3-for-4 with a home run and a triple, scoring twice and had four RBIs to help PSS win its third game in seven matches and dragged the Governor’s to a tie for fourth place.
Omar’s home run was PSS’ lone score in the second inning but helped stretch her team’s lead to 8-1.
She then added a two-RBI triple in the fourth as PSS added six more runs bridging the third and fourth innings.
Emi Quitugua also went 3-for-4, all singles, and scored three times.
Remy Celis held the Governor’s Office to seven hits with two strike outs and gave up one walk in five complete innings.
PSS batters toyed with Governor’s Office pitcher Lucy Aldan who gave up 16 hits with one strikeout and no walks.
The Governor’s Office also committed six errors and twice PSS converted those miscues into runs.
Earlier, the Commonwealth Utilities Corp. held a 13-3 lead over the Department of Public Health when their match was called off due to rain.
The game was stopped in the bottom of the fourth with CUC up to bat.
It is not yet known if their match will be rescheduled or if organizers will award a win to CUC.
