Variety News Staff

THE Department of Public Safety arrested another copper wire thief in San Antonio on Wednesday.
Jason Towai Mad, 21, is the fourth suspect arrested this week in connection with copper wire theft incidents.
Acting DPS spokesman Sgt. Thomas Blas Jr. said they received a call about a copper wire theft in progress at a residence in San Antonio at about 3:58 p.m. on Wednesday.
Blas said patrol officers were immediately dispatched to the scene to conduct an investigation.
Patrol Officer Melissa Bauleong disclosed that the suspect had cut nearly 400 feet of electrical wiring connecting to the residence.
The wire was cut from the dropline, meter boxes and other electrical panels at the residence.
Blas said Commonwealth Utilities Corp. personnel summoned to the scene determined that the wires were live when they were cut.
The suspect was caught in the act by responding police officers and arrested for theft.
DPS on Monday arrested three persons, including a minor, for stealing copper wire from the Saipan Mayor’s Office.
Police officers caught them in possession of a large duffle bag containing copper wire.
The suspects were headed to a recycling center to sell the stolen wire when they were spotted by Detectives George David and Jesse Dubrall.
