Beginning Jan. 15, the Bureau
of Public Safety officers will be undergoing a physical training test
to keep everyone physically fit.
Vice President and Justice Minister Elias Camsek Chin announced during
the weekly press conference of the president Wednesday that the tests
will be conducted semi-annually but the officers will be weighed regularly.
Chin said that each police officers is required to pass three tests, however
the test varies according to the weight, height and age of an officer.
The officer has to undergo push-up, sit-up and a 1 and _ mile- run.
Chin said an officer who will not pass the physical training test will
be undertaking a remedial training.
Chin said it is critical to the police work that they keep fit.
Chin said the police officers aside from keeping their weight down, have
to undergo physical training to improve their stamina and strength.
He added that most of the police officers have begun the exercise to improve
their strength and prepare for the test.
"If your healthy, then you will live longer," Chin said.
