THE RGA January Ace will be
at stake this Sunday when the Refaluwasch Golfers Association holds a
tournament at the Marianas Country Club.
The check-in time is 9 a.m., while tee off is at 9:30 a.m.
Only the first 16 players to register will be allowed to compete in the
RGA January Ace tournament.
A participant who scores better than 64 will take the first monthly plum
and have a chance to join in the RGA Club Championships in December.
Junior golfer James Balajadia set the score to beat on Jan. 6 during the
clubs qualifying tournament, also at the Marianas Country Club in
Marpi.
Balajadia beat six other golfers to move a step away from claiming the
monthly honors. If no participant scores better than 64 this Sunday, Balajadia
will be named the January Ace winner.
The 14-handicapper shot a 39 on both nines for a gross 78 in the qualifier.
His net 64 gave him a six-stroke lead over second placer and RGA president
Jess Wabol, who nailed a net 70.
Joe Kamikaze Camacho also shot a 70, but Wabol won the tiebreak
with a 1-under par 35 on the front nine. Kamikaze fired an even par 36
on the front.
Other RGA members who joined the January qualifier were
Tony Satur, Alex Aquiningoc, Gus Camacho and Andy Nepaial.
Meanwhile, Wabol is reminding members to pay the $50 membership fee.
For more information, contact Wabol at 288-1129.
