THE federally funded Kagman
Community Center built five years ago is in need of donations for the
purchase of new equipment for community programs, according to Kagman
Komunidat president Betty Ann Cabrera.
The center was built in Dec. 2000 and is located at a strategic point
in the village, which is the islands fastest growing residential
area.
The community wants to be able to offer more at the center,
Cabrera said.
Aside from two rooms used by the Department of Public Safety, the center
has its own theater, conference room, kitchen, offices and restrooms.
Kagman Komunidat members and village residents hold various programs and
activities at the center.
DPS is conducting its Law Enforcement Explore Program for high school
students at the center.
Sgt. James Deleon Guerrero, who heads the DPS station in the area, said
LEEP members conduct drills, attend lectures and perform community activities.
The Division of Youth Services is also launching a parent education program
at the center.
Cabrera said there are still a lot of things to be done at the community
center, but due to lack of funding, they need donations to further enhance
the services and programs it provides.
