WITH the Fall League over,
Saipan Major League coordinator Tony Rogolifoi informed interested teams
to start preparations for the SMLs regular season.
Rogolifoi said he is calling on mangers or coaches to attend an organizational
meeting on Jan. 31, Wednesday, to discuss the upcoming SML season.
The SMLs 2007 season is tentatively set to open on Feb. 26.
At press time, seven teams had signified their intention to join this
year.
The teams will be led by the defending champion Bud Kings, runner-up Ford
Rangers, the Masters, Hustlers and a Korean local squad.
Rogolifoi said he has not heard from the Yankees but he expects that the
Northern crew will field a team this season. The seventh squad will be
composed of players from the former Brewers.
The entrance fee is $1,200 and team rosters and entrance fees must be
submitted before the league opens.
Checks should be made payable to the Saipan Major League Baseball Association.
Rogolifoi added that each team must get their sponsors and secure their
uniforms before the opening of the league.
Aside from discussing the details of the upcoming season, Rogolifoi said
they will also hold an election of officers.
Up for grabs in the election are the positions of president, vice president,
league coordinator and members of the board.
Rogolifoi is inviting interested individuals who want to be involved in
the CNMIs baseball program to join them and get elected to the SML
board.
