Water unit tells public to conserve despite enough supply

By Nazario Rodriguez Jr.
Horizon news staff

The water utilities division is asking the public to conserve while there is enough supply in every tank.
Water unit Chief Techur Rengulbai said every drift of water costs a lot of money between "you and me."
A lot of money, he said, is being spent in the purification process.
"I think that the people is very aware of this. The water unit crew is doing everything to maintain the supply at its normal level but we need the community to help in this effort," he said.
Rengulbai is asking the public to report to their office if they see someone is using water improperly or any broken pipes.
Congress reduced the budget for water and sewer by $200,000 for fiscal 2007.
Rengulbai said the money could have been used to purchase materials, which he said has gone up and that Palau has to get it from outside.
The appropriated budget is $2 million.
