Men’s fast-pitch softball league in the works

By Jonathan V. Perez
Variety News Staff

PLANS are underway to open a Men’s Fast-pitch Softball League with veteran ballplayers Manny Tenorio and Tony Rogolifoi leading the way for the formation of the new league.
Tenorio, in a telephone interview, said they have formed the CNMI Softball Association that will serve as the organizer and regulator of the fast-pitch league.
Tenorio said the CNMI Softball Association differs from the Saipan Softball Association as the latter organizes the slow-pitch leagues.
The league is set to open by the middle of February.
“We will wait for the Korean baseball team and the Japanese women’s softball squad to finish their practice and use of the field. After that we will set the final date for the league’s opening,” said Tenorio.
For more information, call Tenorio at 285-8366 or Rogolifoi at 288-3515.
Tenorio is also conducting tryouts for the CNMI Men’s National fast-pitch softball team at the Miguel Basa “Tan Ge” Pangelinan Ballfield.
The players chosen for the team will see action in next year’s Oceania Softball Championships.
The tournament will be held in February next year on Guam.
