ITS comedy tonight
for the Thespians of the Western Pacific Islands on Saipan, a media release
stated.
This years chapter play is A Funny Thing Happened on the Way
to the Forum.
Talented members of the International Thespian Society from all over the
island will perform this hilarious Roman musical comedy.
The actors and actresses are students from Marianas High School, Northern
Marianas Academy, Ladera International School of Saipan, Chacha Ocean
View Jr. High School, Kagman High School, Saipan Southern High School,
Mt. Carmel School, Hopwood Jr. High School, Grace Christian Academy, San
Antonio Elementary School and home school.
The play was written by Burt Shevelove and Larry Gelbart the masterminds
behind the TV series M.A.S.H.
Gelbart once said, Having written enough words to circle the globe
and the old globe dozens of times, it remains for me the best piece of
work Ive been lucky enough to see my name on.
Ideas for the plot and characters were drawn from Plautuss comedic
works. Titus Meccius Plautus was a third century Roman playwright. Twenty-six
of his plays are still being performed today.
The student directors of this play have made a few small changes of their
own and are pleased to present a fresh performance.
Opening night is Feb. 16 and the show will run until Feb. 17.
