GUAM Memorial Hospital nursing
supervisor Cely Mangrobang yesterday said the 19-year-old who was shot
on Monday night is in stable condition and has been transferred to a regular
room.
Guam Police Department public affairs officer Allan Guzman said police
learned of the shooting only after hospital officials contacted them about
a 19-year-old who came in for medical attention.
Upon arrival (at GMH), police saw a victim being treated from a
gunshot wound to the chest, Guzman said. The victim was alert
and conscious and informed police that someone unknown to him did a drive-by
shooting on Vivian Way in Jonestown, Tamuning.
Paul Manuel Sablan Cepeda, 21, of Tamuning, was arrested after police
investigation.
Cepeda was charged with reckless conduct, possession of a firearm without
a firearms identification, and unlawful discharge. He was booked and confined.
Guzman said Cepeda is a friend of the victim who also drove the victim
to the hospital. Further investigation showed that the suspect accidentally
shot his friend with a small caliber weapon while at a Tamuning residence.
No word on whether the victim would be charged as well with falsifying
a report. Police recovered the weapon yesterday.
