executive Dan Moffat has been appointed as the new president and chief
executive officer of GTA.
Moffat, who will be based on Guam, was appointed on Jan. 11 by TeleGuam
Holdings, GTAs mother company.
Prior to joining GTA, Moffat was most recently executive vice president
with EarthLink, which was acquired and merged with New Edge Networks in
April 2006.
Moffat was co-founder, president and CEO of New Edge Networks Inc., a
Vancouver, Washington-based company that builds and manages private networks
for businesses and communications providers.
Moffat founded New Edge Networks in 1999. He has 25 years experience in
the telecommunications industry and has pioneered various ventures.
He was president of GST Whole Earth Networks before starting New Edge
Networks and had also previously founded a telecom strategy firm, Access
Value Services, which was later sold to Cathey, Hutton and Associates,
a telecommunications consulting company.
Moffats telecommunications careers included sales, marketing and
operations positions with U.S. Intelco Networks Inc.; IBM/ROLM Corporation;
U.S. West Corp.; and Tymnet, one of the original packet-based value-added
networks.
GTA has a long history of service for the telecom customers on Guam.
We plan to maintain and improve upon this proud tradition as our first
priority, Moffat said in a statement.
A leading telecommunications industry expert, Moffat has served as vice-chairman
of the Association for Local Telecommunications Services and on the board
of the Competitive Telecommunications Association.
He was named Frost & Sullivans 2004 Telecom CEO of the Year.
He currently serves on the board of Anesthesiologist Associates Inc. and
has written and contributed numerous industry articles.
Moffat holds a Master of Science degree in Telecommunications from Golden
Gate University, an MBA from Santa Clara University, and a Bachelor of
Science degree in Finance from California State University-Chico.
He and his wife, Jane, of 26 years, have three grown children. For leisure,
Moffat surfs and participates in Ironman Triathlon competitions.
