CONGRESS Top seed Rey Zialcita bowled a 195 in the finals match
to beat second seed Jay Leon Guerreros 152 and take the January
honor for this years edition of the King of the Lanes Tournament.
It was an easy win for Zialcita hitting six strikes in the match. In contrast,
Leon Guerrero could not get the game going for him leaving the 1st, 3rd
and the 6th frame open and a total of only two strikes for the game.
In the Prince Division, first time Prince Bowler Peter Diego took home
this months honor by beating Conrado Bascos in the finals match
with a score of 171 + 29 handicap against Bascos 141 + 36.
In the Prince Semi-final round, Conrado Bascoss 186 + 36 handicap
was tied with Art Beltrans 201 + 21 handicap. However, it was Bascos
who prevailed in the tie-breaking 9th and 10th frame roll off to earn
a crack at the monthly finals match against Diego.
In the King of the Lanes Elimination Round earlier, on top was Ray Zialcita
with a total pinfall of 1207, followed by Jay Leon Guerrero with 1152.
In third was Keith Guerrero with 1103, in fourth was Brian Manibusan with
1093 and in fifth was Joey Laguana with 1087. They are followed by Jesse
Eyoel 1056, Kevin Christianson 1031, JD Castro 1026, Art Acosta 1012,
and Darryl Dimla 1006, 6th to 10th respectively.
For the Prince of the Lanes, Ding Balagtas took the top position with
1198 including handicap, followed by Art Beltran with 1186. In third was
Conrado Bascos 1183. One pin behind was Timothy Nauta with 1182 and in
fifth was Peter Diego 1135. Completing the top ten with their total scores,
including handicap, were Miguel Rosen 1117, Eddie Esteban 1098, Ryan Batac
1087, Kyle Atalig, the youngest participant at 11 yrs of age with 1080,
and Chris Borja 1077.
Monthly finals for both divisions are scheduled from January to November
where winners automatically earn a slot at the 16-player Grand Finale
scheduled in December. This tournament is held at the Central Lanes Bowling
Center and is sponsored by Budweiser.
