The Project for
the Improvement of North Dock in Peleliu is expected to be finished by
the end of this month, according to Project Manager Takaatsu Uchida of
the Penta-Ocean Construction Co. Ltd.
The ribbon cutting for the $5.21 million project is tentatively set on
the second week of February during yesterdays meeting with various
agencies concern at the Conference Room of the Bureau of Marine Resources.
Present at the monthly meeting were Peleliu Governor Jackson Ngiraingas,
JICA Resident Representative Notsu Yoshio, BMR Director Theo Ismau, EQPB
Environmental Engineer Alex Apostol, Ecoh K. Fukumitsu.
Based on the progress report released by Uchida, a new pier will be installed
by the end of January.
On dredging works, the length of access channel is almost completed from
the starting point of the dock to the end of the 5.5km access channel.
The dredging work is scheduled to be finished by Jan. 20.
Also based on the progress report, there will be two navigation to be
installed by Jan. 27.
It also said that all the equipment including dredger, dump trucks and
other equipment would be demobilized after the installation of the navigation.
A safety meeting was held on Jan. 15 while the final inspection of bathymetric
survey of dredging work started Jan. 10 and anybody can join the inspection.
