OEk urged to tackle vital bills in Jan. session

President Remengesau urged the Olbiil Era Kelulau to take action on the pending and critical pieces of legislation during the January regular session.
The president in an interview with reporters said that in his meeting with the lawmakers they have vowed to expedite the changes in the Financial Institution Act.
He added that the OEK also vowed to tackle the measure which will extend the life of the Bureau of Lands and Survey and Land Court which will expire on Feb. 11.
He said these bills will be passed before Congress adjourns their session.
The president also submitted his appointment of board members to the Palau Public Land Authority.
There is however a pending legislation reducing the number of PPLA board members.
The bill calls for the reduction of PPLA board members from 16 to 7.
The bill also calls for an increased in compensation of the board members.
