The three firefighting
vehicles that will be housed by the Aircraft and Rescue Firefighting building
will be arriving late this year.
Capital Improvement Project Manager Ric Mangham said that the building
is expected to be ready before the ARFF building is completed.
The ARFF building cost $2 million and an amount of $1.5 million is the
cost of the three vehicles.
The construction of the ARFF was made possible through a grant from the
Federal Aviation Authority.
Two new additional loading bridges will also be constructed at the airport
this year to make up the whole package of the airport improvement.
Mangham said there is money set for one of the loading bridge and another
loading bridge will be constructed if there is enough funding. In total
the airport will have three loading bridges.
The airport improvement cost at least $13 million.
Phase II involves the full repair of the runway, the project is financed
by a grant from Federal Aviation Administration.
Phase I of the project has been completed and the works involve spray
scale of the runway which fixed the loose aggregates.
