The Rotary Club
of Palau on Wednesday Jan 17 donated materials for the students of George
B. Harris Elementary School in its continuing effort to help them achieve
excellence in school.
Club President Risong Tarkong led other Rotarians during the turnover
of the materials to school Principal Wicliff Emul.
The school materials include some 20 backpacks, 50 notebooks, pencils,
rulers, calculators and binders.
Rotary said it strongly advocates literacy program that includes the clubs
partnership on encouraging young students to study hard, do a lot of reading
and writing to further their education which could lead to their great
potentials and growth and for their future.
The school materials will be distributed to the students.
Emul said it was not the first time that the Rotary donated such school
supplies to GB Harris.
"They have also donated books and even water filter before. So, on
behalf of the teachers and students, I thanked the officers and members
of the Rotary Club of Palau for their strong commitment in promoting education
and partnership with the schools. We really appreciate their effort from
the bottom of our heart," Emul said.
Also present during the turnover of the school supplies were Rotarians
Sen. Caleb Otto, Wayne Santos, Paul Kjeldsen, Chen Masang and John de
Vivo.
