The Fiji Rugby Union today announced the appointment of former Fiji and
Wallaby legend Ilivasi Tabua as the new coach of the FMF Flying Fijians.
Tabua dubbed the human skewer first task would be to guide
Fiji through the Pacific Nations Cup and then on to the 2007 Rugby World
Cup in France.
I think Fijis in a strong position and I believe it doesnt
matter whose head coach, the important this is that things are in place
on the ground particularly in terms of the High Performance Unit and the
way we are now looking after our players, Tabua said.
His appointment came just a week after national 15s coach Wayne Pivac
resigned citing family commitments.
Having been to two World Cup with Australia (1995) and Fiji (1999) Tabua
believes Fiji needs to get back to play its free-flowing game.
Rugbys a running game, and thats what were good
at, so obviously Im going to be working on improving this aspect
particularly.
Fiji Rugby Union High Performance general manager Peter Murphy believes
this is an important move for Fiji Rugby.
