THE Saipan Major League has changed the time of the organizational meeting for the upcoming 2007 Budweiser SML season.
SML coordinator Tony Rogolifoi is informing managers and team representatives that the meeting, originally scheduled for 12 noon on Wednesday, Jan. 31, has been moved to 6 p.m. the same day at the same venue in the Gilbert C. Ada Gym conference room.
Rogolifoi informed interested teams to start preparations for the SML’s regular season.
Details of the upcoming SML season will be discussed in the meeting. The SML’s 2007 season is tentatively set to open on Feb. 26.
Seven teams – led by the defending champion Bud Kings, runner-up Ford Rangers, the Masters, Hustlers and a Korean local squad – signified their intention to join this year.
The Northern Yankees and a team composed of players from the former Brewers will also join this season.
The entrance fee is $1,200 and team rosters and entrance fees must be submitted before the league opens.
Checks should be made payable to the Saipan Major League Baseball Association.
Rogolifoi added that each team must get their sponsors and secure their uniforms before the opening of the league.
Aside from discussing the details of the upcoming season, Rogolifoi said they will also hold an election of officers.
Up for grabs in the election are the positions of president, vice president, league coordinator and members of the board.
Rogolifoi is inviting interested individuals who want to be involved in the CNMI’s baseball program to join them and get elected to the SML board.
