Rabbitfish (Meyas) season closes at month’s end

The Division of Fish and Wildlife Protection of the Bureau of Public Safety (BPS) announced yesterday that the rabbitfish season would be officially closed on January 31.
The announcement is part of DFWP’s ongoing public education initiative, reminding the public that in accordance with 27 Palau National Code Section 1204 (d), as amended by RPPL 7-18, it is unlawful to fish for, sell, receive, export, cause to be exported, possess or buy rabbitfish, locally named as meyas, from February 1 to March 31 of each year.
The DFWP is requesting everyone’s cooperation to ensure the protection of the country’s natural resources.
