Airai roared to its third consecutive victory over PCC Mesekiu, 78-76, on Thursday Jan. 18 in Division II play of the 2007 Shell National Basketball League at the Palau National Gymnasium.
Tkoel scored 22 points for Airai while Despe finished with 13, including his team’s last five points that sealed the victory.
With the win, Airai further improved its record to 8-3 and tightened its grip of second place behind the league-leading Stingers (9-0).
Also on Jan 18, Topside On Fire defeated Kabong, 80-73, to snap a five-game losing skid.
The win was only the fourth in nine games for On Fire.
On Friday Jan. 19, Klebokel streaked to its fourth straight victory as it scored an easy 62-53 win over the Blue Sharks, 62-53.
Klebokel thus improved its record to 4-6 after dropping its first six games.
On Saturday, Mesekiu won via forfeiture off a no show Kabong.
The win was PCC’s fifth win in 10 outings while Kabong absorbed its eighth defeat in 10 matches.
In Division I, the Ikelauans defeated the Ranchers, 79-70.
The win was the Ikelauans second in seven games while the Ranchers remained winless after seven assignments.
