The Patriots rallied back
in the final quarter to tame the ATT Jaguars, 103-91, as actions are getting
rough and tough in the 2007 Filipino Basketball Association before a big
crowd last Sunday at the Palau National Gymnasium.
Three other teams won over their respective rivals with the Rams finally
scoring its first win over Sante Fe, 76-72, while defending champion Rangers
bounced back with a 88-74 victory over Palau Royal Resort and Palaus
WassUp team defeated Basty Ngchesar, 73-62.
The Patriots established a 50-19 lead at halftime then nearly blew-up
their biggest lead of 14-points midway in the third quarter as the Jaguars
moved to within two points going to the fourth, 70-72.
The Jaguars even led by as much as five points behind fastbreak plays
by playing coach George Domingo, Nato Cayetano and Bong Alambra, before
the Patriots recovered back in time to post their third win of the season
while dealing the Jaguars their first in three starts.
Joeger Supnet led the Patriots with 29 points including eight crucial
points in the final stretch while June Bautista added 21.
Alambra, Domingo and Cayetano had 18, 16 and 14 for the Jaguars.
Defending champion Rangers vented its ire on the Royals following their
previous loss to the Jaguars on Jan. 14.
Alvin Soguilon led the Rangers with 29, including five from three-point
range.
Joining the Patriots on top of is Wassup, which is led by Ziske
Asanuma with 15 points, Burton Wong 12 and Joe Joe Roberts 11.
The Rams snapped a two-game losing skid while dealing Sante Fe its third
straight defeat in as many games.
