MHS has highest number of highly qualified teachers

MARIANAS High School employs the highest number of highly qualified teachers among the CNMI’s public schools.
Of the 56 MHS teachers, 42 have passed Praxis, acquired certification and obtained the necessary degrees.
Coming in second is Hopwood Junior High School, which has 29 highly qualified teachers, or HQTs.
Hopwood has 50 teachers.
Garapan Elementary School has the most HQTs among primary schools — 23 out of 38.
Saipan Southern High School has 22 HQTs out of 32 teachers, followed by San Vicente Elementary with 20 HQTs out of 35.
Kagman High School has 17 HQTs out of 26; William S. Reyes, 16 of 28; Koblerville Elementary, 9 of 20; Tanapag Elementary, 7 of 12; Kagman Elementary, 12 of 32; Dandan Elementary, 12 of 22; San Antonio Elementary, 6 of 16; Gregorio T. Camacho Elementary, 13 of 15; Chacha Oceanview Junior High, 10 of 20; Tinian Elementary, 10 of 17; Tinian High School 9 of 14; Sinapalo Elementary on Rota, 11 HQT of 15; Rota Junior High School, 3 of 6; and Rota High School, 6 of 10.
The special education program has 37 HQTs out of 53 teachers.
According to the Public School System, classes taught by HQTs scored higher on the SAT 10 than classes taught by teachers with less experience and fewer degrees.
PSS has 505 teachers of whom 306 are now highly qualified.
