A FELON from Saipan who was
indicted last week for possession of firearm and ammunition has been scheduled
for trial in the U.S. District Court of Guam.
Edward Faiso, 49, who was convicted in the Superior Court of Guam in 1995
for felony offense, was indicted in the district court with possession
of a firearm by a felon and possession of ammunition by a felon.
The grand jury charges stated that Faiso was caught in possession of a
Mossberg .12 gauge shotgun which was shipped and transported in interstate
commerce on March 5, 2003.
On the same date, Faiso was also found in possession of three unexpended
12-gauge bullets which he bought from off-island commerce.
The Dededo resident, who pleaded not guilty to the charges, was released
under his own personal recognizance but was ordered by the court to remain
on Guam and to stay away from entry and exit ports.
Sentencing moved
In other news, the sentencing of Albert Portusach Mendiola Jr. has been
moved to Feb. 6 at 9 a.m.
Mendiola, who earlier entered into a plea agreement, was involved in drug
distribution on Guam.
Mendiola arranged for methamphetamine to be sent via U.S. Postal carrier
to his brother Paul Mendiola, who would then receive the package and sell
the drugs on the streets.
Paul Mendiola was earlier sentenced to 65 months of imprisonment for his
role in the drug conspiracy and distribution sometime in January 2005.
