PXC 10 Final Redemption

By Leah Murphy
For Variety

BOWING their heads with pride the fighters sing the words of Guam’s national anthem. The anticipation of UOG’s field house stadium builds as fighters are introduced by i-94 Malafunction’s Chris Barnett.
In the first fight of the night, Guam’s Baby Joe “the Juggernaut” Timanglao vs. Jimmy “the Mouse” Jarkon from California’s Jake Shield’s Academy. Both fighters laid out all their skills, throwing jabs left and right, and taking one another to the mat. With immense technique, great sportsmanship, and a will to win the crowd it’s no wonder the judges called the fight a draw.
Pacific Xtreme Combat 10 had more in store for Guam’s people with its second fight presenting Guam’s Paul “the Warrior” Quenga vs. Saipan’s Jason “the Palauan Samoan Rush” Tarkong coming out of Purebred Trench Tech. Quenga fought hard for two rounds but unfortunately lost the fight to Tarkong by way of knock out.
Final Redemption would not be fulfilled and the fans for the first time of the night would be disappointed as they were informed that “One Time” Wenyu Bamba would not be challenging Ryan “the Dentist” Irkizu. However, the fights went on as Bamba entered the cage to meet his opponent Hanson “the Butcher” Walan.
Unfortunately, Walan only lasted the first round seeing as Bamba showed no mercy in returning blow for blow and hence adding another knockout victory to his record. Following these fights were: Guam’s Bryan “Shotgun” Howard vs. Saipan’s Manny Laniyo, winner by way of technical knock out, Howard; GU’s Justin “the Shocker” Cruz vs. SPN’s Jay Muna, the winner by judges vote, Justin Cruz; GU’s Chris “the Supernatural” Duenas vs. San Francisco, CA Fair Tex Mutai Gym’s Frank Gomez, winner by way of verbal submission, Frank Gomez; GU’s Micah “Ikaika Warrior” Tobias vs. John Ogo, winner by way of knock out, Micah Tobias; GU’s Jess “Spiderman” Taitano vs. Hilo, HI’s Alfred “Always Bad” Manners, winner by way of referee’s call, Alfred Manners; GU’s Mike “the Ogre” Davis vs. SPN’s Slaid Alabai, winner by way of knockout; Mike Davis.
The night’s main event held Inarajan, GU’s Manny “the Enforcer” Chong, Heavy Weight Champion of the PXC vs. SPN’s Heavy Weight Champion of the Marianas Islands Charles Aiken. Each weighing over two hundred pounds and towering at around six feet tall these giants moved with immense power. Chong defending his heavy weight champion belt sought out victory, but unfortunately was defeated by way of knockout leaving Aiken to receive PXC 10’s Heavy Weight Champion victory belt.
