WATCH & Learn survived
a Da Lani Kynez scare in the fourth set to eke out a 57-43 juiced out
win in the World Organized Rocball Community League yesterday at the Marianas
High School Gym.
It was Watch & Learns second victory in as many games in the
second round of the annual tournament, while Da Lani Kynez dropped to
a 0-2 record.
Watch & Learn won three sets of their game, while Da Lani Kynez prevailed
once.
Watch & Learn took the opening set winning by 10, 15-5.
Da Lani Kynez regrouped and topped the second set, 16-9. Da Lani Kynez
posted an early 11-1 lead in the second set and never looked back.
Watch & Learn regained control of the match taking a 12-2 lead en
route to claiming the third set, 17-8.
The fourth set was a neck-and-neck battle with Da Lani Kynez almost stealing
the fourth set after it tied the score at 15-all.
But Watch & Learn held its ground in the closing part of the fourth
set and pulled off a 16-14 win.
Had Da Lani Kynez won, it could have sent the game in overtime.
Tyce Mister paced Watch & Learn with 15 points on six kees and a goal.
Mister drilled the lone goal in the game in the third set.
Myron Laniyo topscored for Da Lani Kynez with 18 points on nine kees
Six aces, 21 kees and a goal were scored in the Watch & Learn-Da Lani
Kynez tiff.
Tomorrow, Black Magic and the Dublon Chiefs square off at 11:30 a.m.
Black Magic will be gunning for its second victory. It won its debut game
in the second round beating Kich Fairo, 61-43
The Dublon Chiefs bowed to Watch & Learn, 44-58, and are aiming for
their first win.
If the Dublon Chiefs loss anew, they will be pressed to sweep their three
remaining games to have a chance to advance to the semifinals.
Only the top four teams after the round-robin second round will move to
the semis, which will have a best-of-three format. The pairings will be
the No. 1 vs No. 4 teams and the No. 2 vs No. 3 squads.
Winners of the semifinals series will battle for the title in a best-of-five
games showdown.
