Bullying

ACCORDING to the National Crime Prevention Council, bullying is also defined as “when someone is wiling to hurt another person to get what he or she wants.” (PDN, Page 1, Jan. 19).
If you apply this definition of bullying to politics, then Gov. Felix Camacho is a bully since he was willing to hurt another person, in this case Robert Underwood, to get what he wanted, which was another four years to “laze around and frolic in the sun.”
I think generally Republicans do fit the mold of bullies quite, if not, very well as they tend to get personal and vicious when things don’t go their way or they don’t get what they want. Consider President Bush. The American people said they wanted change in the ’06 elections but what did the president do? He said, “I will give you change,” by adding more troops to Iraq. That is his way of “sticking it” to the electorate. He usually just beats up on Democrats but since rank-and-file Republicans joined the Dems in rejecting him and his policies, he decided to “stick it” to ALL, each and everyone. Locally, as I have said before, Sunshine Dems fit this profile quite well also. Anyone who lived here from 1995 to ’02 will attest to it, and that’s why Carl Gutierrez will most probably never win another election, like it or not, believe or not. (Just like Robert. No one wins and the people lose.)
Bullying is also defined as “name-calling,” so calling Robert Underwood a racists is also bullying and the message to the kids is that the bullies do get away with it and even get rewarded. So don’t be too surprised with the level of violence in our schools and in the community at large, since kids emulate adults. That is, if you want to call some adults, adults. (That fellow who lied about Underwood on TV8 was standing outside the Harry Truman election precinct in Santa Rita the whole day.)
Lastly, waiting for elections for change is dangerous as I said before the elections. The next set of elections is only about 20 months away. Change should occur everyday, through PRESSURE.
