The Rivals rallied from a slow start to oust defending champion Peched Raw, 78-74, on Monday night in the NBL.
With the victory, the Rivals solidified their hold of Division I with a 7-1 record while dealing Peched its second setback in seven outings.
Jake and Javis Pedro led the Rivals brunt of attacks with 19 and 18 points, respectively while Spis Gordon added 11.
The Rivals slowly recovered from an 11-32 deficit at the end of first quarter with a 31-14 run in the second, 16-19 and 20-9 in the third and fourth to stave off the victory, their sixth straight.
Sunchine Soalablai and Weston Ketebengang scored 19 and 17 for Peched, which, however remained in solo second place with a 5-2 win-loss record.
Meda defeated Surangel Suns, 89-62, and created a two-way tie in third place between them with similar 5-3 cards.
Ziske Asanuma led four other teammates in double figures for Meda. Lyndon Ngiramolau had 18, Clint Mersai 15, Nik Techemang 12 and Edson Chokai 10.
It was the second straight defeat for the Suns.
On Wednesday, the Islanders improved their record to 4-4 by walloping the Ranchers, 74-48 with Umedib and team captain Ditz leading the way with 18 and 14 points.
