PENNANT champion Department
of Community and Cultural Affairs I and the Department of Labor took easy
routes to the semifinals of the mens division of the 2006 Inter-govt
Softball Leagues after pounding their respective foes at the Miguel Tan
Ge Basa Pangelinan Ballfield last Tuesday.
Labor grabbed the third semis ticket joining No Zone and the Ports Police
in the Final Four after whipping Customs, 18-4.
Tim Wesley went 4-for-4, while three other teammates were also perfect
from the field to lift Labor to a 14-point win.
Wesley had two runs, three singles and an RBI.
Roy Tanope, Mitch Aguon and Ton Pangelinan went 3-for-3. Tanope also had
three runs and two RBIs, while Aguon scored three runs, one double, one
homerun and four RBIs. Pangelinan made three runs and had two RBIs.
Chris Alepuyo also did his share in Labors victory going 1-of-2
with three RBIs.
DCCA I completed the semis cast when it routed the Legislature in the
second game, 36-1.
DCCA pitcher Chi pitched in no relief for five innings allowing only one
homerun, which was scored by the Legislatures Andy S. at the top
of the fourth.
A majority of DCCA Is batters were on target in their playoff match
against the Legislature.
First baseman Ton Camacho was 5-for-5 and scored four runs and had eight
RBIs.
Mario Sablan went 4-of-6 with four runs and two RBIs. Joey Dela Cruz and
Benjie Tagabuel both went 4-of-5 with the former scoring three runs, one
double, two homeruns and six RBIs and the latter posting one double, one
homerun and two RBIs.
James Fleming was also perfect on the field going 5-for-5 with five runs,
one triple, one homerun and three RBIs, while Mel Sakisat went 4-of-5
and had three singles, one homerun and three RBIs.
Jun Saralu, Jake Celes and Chi had two runs apiece.
DCCA was playing No Zone for the first finals berth last night, but the
results of the match were unavailable at press time.
No Zone advanced to the semis after beating the Commonwealth Utilities
Corp., 17-7, last Monday.
The second semis game featured Labor battling the Ports Police. They were
also playing last night. The Ports Police gained a semis entry after clobbering
Procurement and Supply, 13-0.
The DCCA-Public School System semis tiff in the womens division
last Tuesday was called off due to haze and was being played last night.
The winner of the second semis game in the womens division will
meet CUC in a best-of-three title series, which will start tonight.
CUC advanced to the finals after a 6-5 upset over pennant champion Finance.
