Wass’up slams Patriots but loses due to technicality

Palau’s Wass’up team defeated the Patriots, 81-71, but lost the game due to technicality on Sunday Feb. 25 in the ongoing elimination round of the 2007 Filipino Basketball Association at the Palau National Gymnasium.
Wass’up playing-coach Topps Sungino said that the Patriots immediately put the game in protest after a Palauan player had been found to be under the influence of alcohol.
The guest team, thus, absorbed its second defeat for a 5-2 win-loss record in third place while the Patriots remained with a clean 7-0 card on top of the 10-team field tournament.
At second place are the ATT Jaguars (6-1), who went through the eye of the needle to score a 97-83 decision against the PDC Rams (3-4).
Defending champion Rangers finally recuperated from two consecutive losses by beating Santa Fe, 83-72.
The win was the Rangers’ fourth in seven outings while Santa Fe further slipped to a 1-6 record.
In the fourth game of the day, Samurai recovered from a poor first quarter performance before coming home with a 67-61 victory over Palau Pacific Resort, which dropped to 1-6.
Samurai improved its card to 4-3.
